Self-expression and persuasion are powerful tools in general for any social, academic, or professional setting. While confidence is often cited as the antidote, overcoming this fear requires the integration of a diverse set of skills, from prompt comprehension, script development, argumentation, to mastery of body language.
The ability to express one’s views through the spoken word is a powerful skill in the information age. Public speaking develops a student’s critical thinking and communications skills, and give the confidence in expressing themselves in English.
